an inside look into the crazy life of owning and running a small business in Maine

The Pilot

March 6, 2019

It's still winter.

I think it is going to snow even more on Sunday, but do you know what I am looking forward to??

The bakeshop re-opens Next Friday!!! No, seriously... NEXT FRIDAY!!

That is March 15. The Ides of March. I am hoping that isn't a bad sign.

We have been keeping ourselves very busy during this winter break, creating new menu items, learning to better promote our brand and going to workshops to better grow our business.

Needless to say, I am VERY excited to get back in that tiny kitchen and crank out some awesome pastry. I even updated the website to make cake ordering easier! How cool is that???

I hope to see you at the shop!!

Season 4

March 2, 2020

March is here, so Spring must be right around the corner!! We plan to open the bakeshop for our FOURTH season in two weeks!!!

Winter breaks are fun (and necessary for our sanity) but it sure is nice to step back into the shop and turn those ovens back on. We also look very forward to seeing all of our wonderful customers again.

Every year we try to update something, improve something, add new items to the menu and create new and exciting baked goods that will get the customers as excited to taste them as we are to make them. This year is no different. Chef Doug is creating some delicious additions to both the breakfast and lunch menus. Stay tuned to see what he comes up with!!!

Operating during a Pandemic

March 24, 2020

Practice social distancing. Wash your hands. Sanitize surfaces. Flatten the curve. What is this crazy World we are living in right now?! Service industries, as a whole, are dropping by the wayside.

Restaurants are pleading with the Government to help us. We can not operate on 80% less sales than normal and we are losing our staff and they are struggling to get unemployment. We all want to survive this and be open and serve great food again on the other side, but the truth is - a lot of restaurants will close and not be able to re-open. That is why the support of our customers and communities is so important now.

We are choosing to stay open for "Takeout Only" to provide food to our customers that want it, that want a break from cooking three meals a day at home, that maybe couldn't get what they wanted from the grocery store. We plan to serve our food with the utmost care in cleanliness and sanitation and the least amount of contact to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved.

Please, in you can, help support our small, local business, because when all of this is over we are going to want to gather and go out and celebrate together and we want our favorite places to still be there.

Purchasing Gift Cards are a great way to support businesses without leaving your house. You can find ours available on our website :)

Thank you and stay healthy!!!
